In this week’s podcast, we’re joined by Special Guest Mike, who is here to drop some information on our ignorant and unsuspecting asses. To wit:
Just what is this “intellectual property” I keep hearing about, and is downloading MP3s actually stealing?
How long can four geeks reminisce about their favorite sci-fi films?
Will Paul’s lung-rattling cough actually kill him outright before the next podcast?

Show Notes
Only a few show notes this time around:
00:00 — Death March from Faith no More’s second album, Introduce Yourself.
00:20 — Reboot by Optimus Rhyme.
00:58 — Murmadier by Dethklok. It’s about mermaid murder.
18:10 — Ancient Steps Retraced by LousySpy at OverClocked ReMix (www.ocremix.org)
31:18 — Mike is saying “sui genera,” but later realized he had actually meant to say “ex nihilo.” It’s pretty embarassing. What first grader DOESN’T know that?
38:18 — “What’s bugging you, Murph?” is a Robocop 2 reference. I couldn’t find the clip online, but here’s a YouTube clip where they adapted the line for their anti-drug PSA. Man, thank God for that. I don’t think anybody’s smoked a joint since then.
41:20 — After recording the show, Mike says he feels bad about this bit of sexism. I maintain that a hot First Lady with a tongue stud would have been a good thing. In the interest of gender equality, however, I’d also accept Bill Clinton getting a barbell piercing.
41:39 — Hangarmageddon by Evil Horde at The Dark Side of Phobos
42:06 — Brawndo The Thirst Mutilator. It’s like shaving your chest. WITH A LAWNMOWER!
1:12:41 — Send Paul five dollars for clues on how you can score tickets to the big Sonafield reunion show!

Mostly for Mike and Paul, if I record a song and make it publicly available on the Internet for no charge (I write the lyrics, the music, perform the song, and record it in an ‘open source’ environment) would anyone that wishes to perform it in a live venue would ASCAP still request to be paid? If so would I have to become a member of ASCAP to collect my ’share’ of this collected money? Since I had not been a member of ASCAP before the release of the song would I even have a right to any monies collected?
My room mate is going to kill me for having the podcast up loud enough to hear at 3 a.m. and having you guys screaming and grunting at full volume

American ‘monster’ movies…
Cloverfield (2008)
Godzilla (1998)
Night of the Lepus (1972)
Jurassic Park (1993)
King Kong (1933)
The Blob (1958)
I think all of those would be considered in the same vein. Alien to me was a suspense film while the rest of the series were more horror science fiction.
And yes, I have watched all of those movies. Night of the Lepus is horrible but good for a laugh.
Paul, if you read through the history section of slusho.jp you can see some pretty heavy Mythos (versus your use of ‘little m’ mythos) influence in the background of Cloverfield.
No teasing me about a Sonafield show either.
I really need to get a hobby and/or job soon…
